San Mateo Youth Softball

SMYSA is helping to coordinate interested players and coaches for Fall Ball. This is a terrific way for your daughters to continue playing softball to keep their skills sharp or to 'introduce' them to the next age group if they are moving up next spring (i.e. from 8U to 10U, 10U to 12/14U). Teams will play in the Peninsula League and compete against other local teams.

The season typically runs from the first week of September thru the first week of November. Team practices typically begin in mid-August. Unlike Spring, teams are formed and administered by coaches—they are responsible for calculating and collecting fees, uniform ordering, scheduling practices, and gathering and retaining insurance information for players. SMYSA will work with San Mateo teams to provide budget templates, coordinate field practices & batting cage times at Chanteloup, and help pair players with teams.

There are also no tryouts for 8U, 10U, and 12/14U. SMYSA will do its best to ensure every girl who wants to play finds a home. But the number of teams is dependent on how many players and coaches sign up, so placement onto a team is not guaranteed.

In Fall Ball, players typically play at the age group that they will play in the following spring:

8U - Born in 2015 or 2016

10U - Born in 2013 or 2014

12U - Born in 2011 or 2012
