The gift of warmth

2020 has thrown us no shortage of curve balls. But one thing is for sure, generosity doesn’t take a break during a pandemic. Recently our 14U and 12U San Mateo Eagles teams donated 50 brand new coats to Samaritan House of San Mateo County. The effort was spearheaded by Eagles team captain, Claire Shelton, who worked with Samaritan House to coordinate the donation. Because of COVID restrictions, all coats had to be new and unused, making it an even harder challenge to collect. But the teams were up to the task and achieved their collection goal.

Eagles Coach, Deke Shelton couldn't be more proud of his players. When asked what it meant to him, he said, “This small gesture will make a huge impact for those who need it most, especially during these crazy times. These jackets and coats will go to local San Mateo kids, and it’s pretty awesome that they came from our Eagles kids.”
